2012 Gluten Free Candy List

Gluten Free Candy List Updated September 2012***

The gluten free candy list that will guide you through the fall and winter holiday season is here. Updated for 2012, with updates and new links.

Millions of people around the world have a gluten allergy and need to stay away from candy containing gluten. Whether your kids or someone else is allergic to gluten and you want to avoid eating the wrong candy, then check this gluten free candy list.

The list of gluten free candy is based on manufacturers websites on or before September 2012.  Companies do change recipes from time to time. Always make sure you read the label to determine if the product is gluten free and better yet call the manufacturer if the label isn’t clear. If you are looking for a list of other foods containing gluten go here.

Also, some candy outside the United States may be called the same as on the list below but have different ingredients. So if you are outside the U.S. check the label. In addition the sizes of the candy will also result in different ingredients. Some larger sizes will contain gluten while the smaller sizes don’t.

For those who have very high allergy reactions to gluten, some of these products are made in plants that also package other products containing gluten. Please read the packaging to know which is best for you.

We’ve included links to most of the manufacturer’s websites indicating their gluten free policies and if they have a gluten free facility or not.

****Update 9/14/12. NESTLE LINKS – Since publishing this article, Nestleusa.com has changed several of their links. If you google the name of the candy and find nestleusa.com you’ll likely find a direct link to the website for each candy bar.  Such as www.babyruth.com    Within each site, you’ll find in the FAQ section where the company states the candy is gluten free.

Some people are so sensitive to gluten that they cannot tolerate food that has been processed on the same equipment as other products containing it. Watch for all the additives, and the ingredients that don’t have to be listed because they are less than a certain percentage. Even that small percentage matters in gluten free products! I would recommend only eating products that state GLUTEN FREE on the package and if you are not sure then if there could be cross contamination, ask before eating it. Contact the company and ask questions. Great list, though!

  4. Alicia says:

Hi I noticed it says Lemonheads are gluten free and airheads, but my 3 year old niece has been gluten free since she was born and she broke out in hives. I dont think there gluten free. But im not sure. Maltodextrin is in it at least I think it was that one.
    Please let me know.

    thank you

Following this list I ate my first Butterfinger since becoming gluten free. I hesitated because it had vanillin in it which I had been told contained gluten. I had read the comments so I assumed it was ok. I had a horrible reaction, worse ever. I will go back to food without vanillin

  9. Casey says:

Thanks for the list, I’m going to use it at the candy store that I work at, we have many people who ask about gluten free. We have most of these things listed in our store and we are glad to have internet or over the phone orders!

I had Oral Candida since March. That meant no sugar/candy! I was told my test came back negative & started eating a lot of my favorite foods. Within 2weeks (a few weeks ago) I was diagnosed with Celiac. You can imagine the mourning, especially if you were diagnosed with it. Without this list, I was going crazy looking up each individual candy. Assuming Twizzlers are gluten-free, I ate a small package of it 2 days ago & now have stomach pains. It blows my mind how many things ARE made with gluten, that I so much appreciate whoever took the time out to share this list! Many thanks!

The hershey’s drops were on the list from the Gluten Free Magazine and we verified it with a package we purchased. Although it is important to note to check the package of every candy you buy. As Nestle states on their website you should always check the wrapper and look at the ingredients. http://www.thehersheycompany.com/contact-us/frequently-asked-questions.aspx#/Can-you-send-me-an-allergen-list?

  17. Valerie says:
